This is a question that we often receive from pond owners. The answer to this question depends on several parameters including the size of your pond, the species of fish and the availability of food. However, if you visit our

Catfish can be stocked at up to 200/acre but with other predators in the pond you may want to consider reducing that by 25% or so to ensure that there is enough feed available. Unfortunately grass carp are not allowed in the state of Maryland.

I have a pond in Maryland, about half an acre. Currently, there's a fair amount of sunfish, large mouth bass, and frogs - not much of anything else. I'm considering introducing bottom feeders (catfish?) and some herbivores (grass carp?) - there's cattails and a good bit of duckweed and other grasses. Not sure on quantities, especially with established predators. Please advise.
